Ordinary car, ordinary coachwork to my eyes - but the caption begs to differ :) So I need three things for a point: donor (brand), coachbuilder and year.
-
Experts?
-
Professionals?
-
European marque?
-
Coachbuilder was European, donor was sort of European
-
"Sort of European", as in a non-European company building cars in Europe?
-
American brand?
-
exactly, an American brand assembled in Europe
-
A brand of the Big Three?
-
Danish built Chevrolet circa 1923?
-
Late teen early 20's Buick and judging by the front mudguard mounted side lights, was the body made in the UK?
-
Locked for ropat53 as the only thing missing is the coachbuilder. A British-built Buick with a local body.
-
Buick was easy, UK body guess also, but coach builder has proved to be very hard to find. I did find a 1913 British Buick ad that refers to Bedford English-built Coachwork?
-
not that. One more try before I unlock
-
I can't find the puzzle car, but I'll try one more guess.
Was the body made by Hoyal?
-
no.
Reluctantly I unlock
-
How about Nicholls & Son of Bedford?
-
Elkington, they also made some Buick bodies?
-
twice no
-
But then it could be Maythorn of Biggleswade, also not far from Bedford.
-
not them. Apparently the caption was misleading, because it said that there is a very distinctive feature of this bodywork, a hallmark of the coachbuilder

I suppose that's the treatment of the side window frames - I know I haven't seen that before, so I can't offer a coachbuilder on the basis of that clue, which is why I'm guessing around.

Buick by Regent Carriage Co Ltd.
-
congratulations :)
-
Thank you Pal! This was a tough one. I'm curious regarding your statement "... there is a very distinctive feature of this bodywork, a hallmark of the coachbuilder." The only feature of Regent Carriage Co.,that I have been able to discover, is their specialization in the production of aluminum bodies. Is this the "hallmark" that you were referring to?
-
The original caption mentioned the window shape as a distinctive feature
