Tell me about this car, for a point.
To the expert level.
VW power?
Yes, VW power.
Australian?
No sorry, not from Australia.
Built in the USA
Yes, built in the U.S.A.
To the professional puzzlers.
Selfbuilt?
Yes, in Florida.
Was the builder a "known" kustomizer or was this his (or maybe "her") only dubious claim to fame?
I am not sure if the builder is well know or if this is his 1st project. I can tell you the car was made in New Port Ritchie Florida.
Do you mean New Port Richey Florida?

.
The fake Porsche seems to be a Classic Motor Carriages 359. CMC were based in Florida so the mystery car may be CMC-related, but my research was fruitless. Maybe someone else will have more luck.
Would you know if the newer images, were taken before Pablo owned the Sterling with the blue window?
I know that a search of c.list(south Florida), can point you in the right direction, towards solving this custom golden home built machine. :)
.
is this still on c.list?
It was on clist, last time I checked.
Is it still there?
I have the name of the builder of this car in my paperwork. It has been along time since I looked at that paperwork. Maybe nobody can find the name of the builder of this car...if so...I may have to blackhole the puzzle or simply solve it myself, if I must.
Black hole seems to be the obvious destination for this...but I'd like to know the solution.
Perhaps you could help pointing us the right direction with the missing name. I searched craiglist when you wrote it was from there, but couldn't find it.
To find this name we can just guess... is there a famous/known person that shares his name with him?
I cant remember his name from memory. I'm going to have to go through alot of paperwork to find his name again. Then I guess I'll solve the puzzle & it will be a puzzle that awards no points. The key element that is missing is the original craigslist ad for the car....thus only the very few who saw the original listing, know the name of the original builder. It obviously re-surfaced on craigslist under another persons ownership.
This car was built in 1986 by Ward O. Curtis...it was built on a custom frame with the rear being made from a 1974 VW Super Beetle, front suspension was made from a 1970 ball joint front suspension. Ward drove the car for 27 years & has since sold the car & lost track of the car.
Sorry nobody was able to solve, no points awarded. :o
Is this a first for AutoPuzzles? Someone has solved their own puzzle!

No wonder he found it so easy! ;D
Well, it didn't even seem to be that easy.

Actually, no
In the primordial ooze that was was AutoPuzzles way back in 2006, when there were few members, and even fewer actively engaged in the puzzles, some puzzle answers were 'revealed', in order to have some sort of updates ongoing.
A tip of the AutoPuzzles Editor's cap to ValkyrieGT, for keeping it real, and for channeling the early essence of the site.
During the time we were trying to solve this puzzle, it was being listed on ebay. In July 2014, it sold for $6,900 dollars. Nice craftsmanship:
Apparently was on sale again! It is badged as Porsche Wannabe
