Could be a nice 'n easy rookie point.
For one point, please respond and identify this car.

Made in Argentina?
-
No
-
Is it a replica?
-
No
-
Well - my first reaction is that it's a 1954 Ferrari 375 Plus. But this is Autopuzzles..............
-
No Ferrari connection
-
Made in England ?
-
Jaguar?
-
A German evocation of a '50s sports-racer?
-
HWM Jaguar if I remember this one correctly.
Searching for photos I made myself of this one...
-
It´s a 1953 HWM Jaguar, currently raced by a certain Mr. Hübner if I am not wrong.
I once saw it in the Düsseldorf Meilenwerk, where it was for sale some years ago:

Yes...
Jaguar?
... and yes ...
A German evocation of a '50s sports-racer?
...and no, ...

... because that's what it is. I took the picture at the Düsseldorf Meilenwerk some years ago myself. :)

;D
One of the very rare points for me in Pro-land..
-
No wonder I couldn't recognise it - someone's rebodied the car in recent times. This is VPA9 as bodied by HWM, and this appears to be a fairly recent photo.
-
If I remember correctly, this car at the 2008 Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring also was a HWM Jaguar.
And it definitetly looks quite alike the green car in the last post:
-
This is the "standard " HWM bodywork for that model. I think the new owner preferred a style which resembles a Ferrari 375+, and therefore had it rebodied. It's certainly very attractive.
-
I'm baffled. According to Doug Nye's definitive "Powered by Jaguar" the only HWM-Jaguar cars with all enveloping
(ie not cycle-winged) bodies are:
HWM 1 (no 1) with a slab sided body later re-registered as YPG 3
VPA 9 which had a similar slab sided body to HWM 1 was built for Tony Gaze. It was later fitted with a fibreglass body but eventually had the original body refitted as shown in the pictures posted by nicanary
XPA 748 another slab sided car as posted by Grobmotorix
XPE 2 the first of the more curvaceous 'Mk 2' cars with its headlights in the wings like the puzzle car.
HWM 1 (No2) The original registration transferred to a new 'Mk2' car. This had its lights in the radiator opening
But no car with 'Mk2' bodywork carrying VPA 9 so which is the puzzle car? The only answer I can think of is that VPA 9 has been rebodied as nicanary suggests.
-
It's all very complicated - this is the later HWM "curvy" bodywork, and this appears to be HWM1 which was supposed to be a slab-sided car!
My reference book is sadly out of date, in that it assumes that enthusiasts would not mess about with relatively important cars. So who know what happened to this puzzle car?

Thank you guys!

I found a photo of HWM VPA 9 I made myself in 2011 at the Spa 6 hours, before it has got its new bodywork:

I found another old paper photo, I must have made of HWM VPA9 shortly after the opening of the Düsseldorf Meilenwerk:
