The car is obviously a Ford Buckeltaunus; is the coachbuilder Witty & Brueckl from Munich?

I found that in 1939 some combi, named Kastenwagen, were built by Karmann; is this one of them or it comes from a more obscure coachbuilder?

Not Karmann, more obscure, but one piece of work by this coachbuilder was featured at AP before.  ;)

I'm quickly running out of options in West Germany.  Given the apparent date of this vehicle, I have my doubts that is is from the East, but I'll ask.  Was (Is?) the mystery coachbuilder located in the territory of the DDR (including occupied Berlin)?

Not from East Germany, and to put an intermediate halt to this torture, not from West Germany either.  ;)

Hey! Hoh! We finally have a winner. It is a Ford Taunus panel van by Buca from Buchten. Having had a closer look it seems that it has side windows at the right hand side!

I was just behind, but the cover over the windows on the driver's side confused me.

I had just found this photo of the same vehicle from the other side without the window covering and I see by your second photo, it is the same car.  Odd that the advertising would only be on one side.

Aaagh, I poster the other quiz...but I made once more the same mistake, thinking that Buca (L) is in Luxemburg and not in Limburg region!  Well done Mekubb.
