Is it rear-engined?

I know it's probably completely irrelevant but the side reminds me a bit of the Maserati Merak...

You're right there.
I need lessons in Googling; even with the answer I can't find anything!

Thanks for the point !

I've found a tiny pic of it while searching for "VW Golf Schweiz" and then I just had to dig a little further to find the solution.

This is actually a repost but I'll give it a day or two to see if any Expert can get it; if not it'll have to be deleted.

I've decided to merge this one rather than delete it, although the spelling I have for it is rather different from the original puzzle.
It's the Ducat by Swiss Günter Dukat, based on a 1977 VW Golf.  That's how the museum spell it so I suppose they're right but of course since its title is 'Dukat' in the origial puzzle it didn't show up when I searched.

Oddly gte4289 guessed the puzzle right next to it was the Ducat and I thought I was seeing things, but that was a straight-lined rear view of a different car and he never noticed that this was the car he was talking about!

The Swiss tend to jump between their 3, or 4, official languages at will.  (For example racing driver Joseph Siffert was nicknamed "Seppi" the common nickname for Giuseppe, the Italian for Joseph.).  Hence Mr Dukat's car might well have been called a Ducat.

I knew what this was when I posted that. I found the existing thread almost immediately after you stated it was a repost. But sometimes when a solution comes too easily for me, I feel compelled to leave the puzzle for others who might get some joy out of the hunt. And sometimes not. :)
