Yes, Pal and I must have been thinking along the same lines, but he asked the question before I could.  So, was this vehicle manufactured in the territory that would later become the DDR?

Edit: It's not from the DDR, but might it be a circa 1914 Windhoff from Rheine in Westphalia?
