I think there is a reason why you erased driver and passenger...are they wearing uniforms?

No particular reason for blurring those guys, except making it a bit more difficult to find the country of origin. They don't wear uniforms, this project is for civilian use, even though the organization behind it has been involved in not-so-civilian projects ...

kwgibbs

is it used in the medical field,it looks like an oxygen tank gauge just behind passenger seat?

oko94

Very well spotted, there's indeed a gauge, but it's not for oxygen. This project is not related to the medical field.

kwgibbs

by any chance does this vehicle apply lines to the road?

oko94

kwgibbs

I know I,ll sound crazy, but is this a combination vehicle and gas grill all in one?

 ;D

It's not a mobile barbecue, but the idea of combination is definitely interesting...and the gauge is used to monitor some kind of gas indeed.

Wendax

Running on hydrogen powered by a fuel cell?

oko94

It's an hybrid car but no hydrogen in the mix.

kwgibbs

is a vehicle used in an amusement park to fill balloons with helium?

oko94

Not that. But the car's power source can indeed be used for something else than making the car move.

pnegyesi

anything to do with pipelines?

oko94

Well, I guess that at some point in its production cycle the gas used to power the car has travelled through a pipeline, but there's no other relation with pipelines.

pnegyesi

any connection to the mining industry?

oko94

kwgibbs

is the power source propane?

oko94

Not propane but close.

kwgibbs

natural gas perhaps?

Dubbed AMIE (Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy), the innovative platform features special technology that allows a bi-directional flow of energy between a dwelling and a vehicle (Credit: ORNL aka Oak Ridge National Laboratory)

Carbon fiber-reinforced ABS plastic composite material was used to print approximately 30 percent of the vehicle's components

Correct !

This 3D-printed car called PUV (Printed Utility Vehicle) is indeed part of the AMIE project which also includes a 3D-printed house.

Strangely Carnut didn't solve this one even though he posted another 3D-printed car (a Cobra replica) by Oak Ridge National Laboratory last month !
