I can remember in BOUT 1971/2 being a passenger in a car going up a hill in Devon or Cornwall, and the vehicle behind us waS a strange lorry which I thought was an ERF but turned out to be a Rowe.

I think it was made in the West Country somewhere, and we were on a hill - anyway, I don't think I ever saw another one.

Rowe were based in Cornwall and produced a total of 125 lorries and 5 coaches.
The similarity to ERF is due to the cab being supplied by the same coachbuilder, Jennings in Sandbach.

Yes, that's right.  Below is a picture of one of the Rowe Hillmaster coaches.
Note on the destination blind it seems to be operated by Rowe's Coaches, which must have been part of the empire!  I wonder if they operated all five of the coaches that were built?
I doubt if any Rowe vehicles escaped from the south-west of the UK; they were certainly never heard of oop north where I live!
