Well now what have we here?
I'd like the name of this and who was behind this attempt, I think the car itself is fairly straightforward...
Are the experts more familiar?
Covini?
Is this a modified 911 or a replica/kit?
Is the engine in front?

Is the engine in front?
And thus it's in the regular spot!
Looks like it's time to give the pros a shot!
Modified by a French company ?
Is this company known for other cars ?
Is it a Porsche specialist ?
Is it a coachbuilder ?
Is it a car dealer ?
Almeras?

Depends on how solid my research is, I'd like to say it wasn't when it was producing cars, but is now under a different name? I might me slightly off on that I'm afraid...

Not Almeras.

Going by the number plate: was the builder located in the western suburbs of Paris?
Hrubon ?

Actually I was hoping the plate would throw people, it's a Dallas, Texas plate - not sure what it's doing on this car - but oko was straight on the ball with the French connection. I don't believe they're Parisian, no, but that matters not because...

Hrubon ?
That's spot on!
I honestly expected this to end up in the black hole, I've not been able to find a single mention elsewhere about Hrubon's fettling of Porsches but you tracked it down masterfully!
It is not a Texas plate, but a French manufacturer's plate (characterized by the W) from the Département 92 (Hauts-de-Seine), where Hrubon was located in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

Well I happily cede to the more informed!
The writing on the plates has Dallas above the actual identification number, and Texas below it, so you can see where I would be led astray... Should've blanked out the numberplate!
Unfortunately my source did not include more than a snippet of information so I had no idea Hrubon was based there, I only had Geubwiller as the location under the Schmitt name.
Remembering what Hrubon did to the Mini Moke, I'd rather have expected something like a Dacon 828! ;D
Thanks for my 577th point !
The "Hauts de Seine" licence plate was a big hint for a french guy like me, so I just had to list the manufacturers from this Département that were active in the eighties.
