According to an article I've found about its presentation at last year's NAIAS, "The model was designed by the team led by Zhang Fan, the chief styling engineer of GAC Automotive Engineering Institute"

He may well have claimed the credit for it, but I have someone else (and in a country other than China!)

Are you sure? I'm not aware of GAC having design teams outside of China. You're not talking about Daniele Gaglione, are you? He works for JAC (different company) in Turin . Or Peter Horbury, who works for Geely...?

After checking I was thinking of a different model and you are right with your answers - the GA6 was styled in-house.
