I like to post plenty of quite easily solvable puzzles to keep the Rookies busy and interested, but for my 5000th puzzle I tried to find one that's a bit more of head-scratcher to see how far it can progress through the boards..

So, what is it, for 1 point?:

It is getting harder but as I shall be retiring soon I'm going to have plenty of time on my hands to spend digging (not in the garden...!)

it needs to be another guess because I can find diddly-squat about it. Is it on the net somewhere? Based on its windscreen I think it's a plus 2, but for your 5000th (well done)) mystery item, please open it to a Lotus expert.

It's a Plus 2. According to the owner, it was modified to resemble the original design concept, which the owner says was rejected by Colin Chapman. Personally, I've never seen the design concept he's referring to, but that's his story.

Carnut: As tobytwirl recognized the underlying Elan Plus 2, he really deserves the point.
