Looks like one of the Alfa Romeo prototypes for an SUV. Based, I think, on the 4wd version of the Alfa 33. May have been used by the Italian Carabineri.

Its project AR146 from 1985.This is the civilian version,there was a military version,I presume the carabineri would have used this.
The military version ran under the codename magagnona. Cancelled when Fiat took over Alfa Romeo.

This is the civilian SUV version of the AR146 Magnagona/AR148 Magnaghina projects. As far as I can tell, the designation of this vehicle is "AR148 Civilian SUV", or "Matta II". It seems there are only 4 photos of this version, all from original Alfa Romeo publicity shots.

It is a bit confusing whether it is AR146 or AR148. I hadn't seen the inside picture before, seems like there would not be much room due to the incursion of the suspension.
