Karrier   - this vehicle was known as the Cub or Colt depending on the weight carried. - Most of them were articulated tractors (the original mechanical horse, before Scammell - but they must have built some as rigid wagons hence this.
The registration is late 1931, Huddersfield, which is where Karrier were built at that time, and the upgrade to the Cub or Colt Major with a larger Coventry Climax engine was in 1932, so as it is a coal wagon, I imagine it is the larger weight model being the Karrier Colt...

A splendidly complete answer. The point is yours. My source claimed it was called a Cob if it was rigid, and a Colt if it was articulated, but I'm not entirely sure this is correct.

Your source may be right - I was relying on the section about Karrier in the Geogarno / Marshall Naul  Encyclopaedia of Commercial vehicles and whilst comprehensive the brevity on this was enough to make it a bit ambiguous.
However,  there was  a  photo of an articulated vehicle - which it named a Cob...

I can't find my original source, which doesn't help! The more I look , the more I agree that it should be a Colt, and I am changing the title. Thanks for your help.
