The full detailed name of this vehicle to gain a point please...
-
Climbing up to the next level...
-
I'm amazed that this has not received a single comment as yet, but I'm sure this will not remain the case when it climbs up to the Pros now...
-
Daihatsu TAF20 ?
-
Toyota land cruiser fj40?
-
It's not a Land Cruiser, but it is Daihatsu TAF20 Taft-related, although not a Daihatsu, so locked to Nicanary until your next answer.
-
Unlock it please. I know the car was sold under different names in different markets, but I assume that this is built under licence in a country other than Japan. I can't find any information to help me.
-
I would have said it could be a Toyota Blizzard LD10, but the front end seems to be a little bit different...
-
Not a Toyota Blizzard, and thanks for the unlock Nicanary. As you correctly say, the Daihatsu was sold under any names around the world (Taft, Wildcat, etc.), but this one was not built in Japan...

Part of the competition for a French army jeep that led to the Peugeot P4, the Citroen C44 and the Renault TRM500?
It was intended for both military and civilian use, but I am not 100% certain if it was part of the French army 'jeep' competition.

No, not really.
-
Ligier?
-
Heuliez ?
-
Which one gets the point? ;D.
Fascinating. Heuliez-O but Heuliez F written on the plans. Built in 1983 on a base from the 1970s and powered by a Peugeot XD3 engine, and with Ligier logo on the bonnet and Heuliez logo on the bumper!
I don't want a point, but how do you respond to the two previous questions? :lmao:
-
We'll take half a point each! ;D
-
Rather than send a PM, I'll apologise to the puzzle-setter publicly. Basically I wrecked this puzzle.
I am by nature a very curious person. Even if I have not taken part in a puzzle, I very often do a bit of research/checking after it has been solved. Seeing the answers from wendax and oko94 I looked up the source and for some stupid reason I revealed the full details. I'm fairly sure the puzzle-setter would have locked it for either of them on the basis of their posts, but he didn't get the chance thanks to my "enthusiasm".
Sorry Djetset. I'm not sure if I'll ever learn.
-
Gosh, I went out last night for a very nice, long relaxing meal with friends, so switched my 'phone off not to be disturbed. Coming back on-line this morning, I see that there has been some major progress with this puzzle overnight!!!
So, what to do now?! As Nicanary says, if I'd seen Wendax's 'Ligier' guess last night I would have locked the puzzle to him to find out more. However...
I guess I could be generous and award one point each (as half points don't exist) to Wendax for guessing Ligier, Oko94 for guessing Heuliez, and Nicanary for completing the puzzle with the O F name, or I could just move it to Solved with the full correct model name (Ligier/Heuliez-O F 4x4) and award no points at all. Perhaps Admin can help me decide the most fare and correct outcome here?
Meanwhile, here's a full photo of the car...
-
No point for me - I'm the pariah. Personally I'd say one point each to the other two - they're both experienced puzzlers who would have solved this with a lock in place.
-
Certainly one for Wendax and one for oko too and maybe one for nicanary as well!
We must never lose sight of the fact that this is just a game and it's played for fun.
Enquiries and posts are to be encouraged as we like as much information as we can get; and it wasn't locked!
Hopefully this will be useful to help you decide Djetset!

I think no one believes you placed your answer for the point.
Googling 'Ligier' and 'Heuliez' was enought to find the solution then and you wrote that you don't want it because you considered it solved.
Wendax and Oko94 should get their point but...
I believe you should get one point too, then, in order to punish you. ;D

We have a popular saying in the UK - "I'll get my coat......"
-
I know the website where these pictures are from quite well but for some reason this weird Ligier-Heuliez-Daihatsu mashup didn't leave a trace in my mind, and I didn't bother to check that source when I posted my Heuliez kind-of-wild guess. Therefore I don't exactly deserve a point but I won't complain if I get one !
-
I think this one needs to be put to sleep in some way. The decision to award points is up to the puzzle-setter as far as the general ethos of AP goes.
Sorry OP, but I think the editors will consider it's up to you. I've got to 400 now, so basically I'm shafted! I'd say give the other two a point each.
-
Oddly enough I was just questioning this one again with one of the editors, so let's watch this space... :(
-
OK, decision made. I've awarded one point to Wendax and Oko94 each.
-
Thank you ! Points are rare these days so it's more than welcome.

Tell me about it! I'm about to reach 400 points myself, which is very bad timing for me under the recent new rules, so I have this long barren period to look forward to ???

I'm actually partly responsible for all of this - I suggested a sort of Super-Pro section as a way of giving a better chance to us "inbetweeners" before the usual suspects waded in. It's worked against me in a big way! Can't complain if it encourages a few of the members to have a stab at puzzles which otherwise would be solved in seconds by the Big Boys.
