Title: Solved - NEH 1644: Gene Voigt Crosley Special
Post by: Carnut on March 08, 2012, 05:51:39 AM
And for today's red car - what's this, who built it and when?

Google Image Search continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Image Search as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

Voigt-Crosley, from Ohio I think.  The car still exists.

Yes - that's the car!
Built by Gene Voigt on a chassis very similar to the H-Mod Jabro.
I believe he started to build it in the late 1950s and finished it in about 1961.
It was popularly referred to as the Little Red Car, or the Crosley LRC.

It looked real familiar, as old and recent photos have shown up on flickr over the past few years.

Aaargh...
That's the trouble when cars change hands; I picked this up as the Rich Campbell Crosley Special, so naturally it didn't show up on the Search.
He must just be the latest owner, when I thought he built it..
Well done anyway!
