It's an Invalid Car, built by Mr. Sydney Jones in 1952, probably on a Ford base.

If you know that he was the builder you know more about it than I do!
I have a name for it, which I assumed to be the name of the builder.
Locked for you to see if you can give it.
AP rules don't allow the link, but there's a video on a well-known site which shows the vehicle in action.

Yes, I was just watching it but my computer here has no sound so I don't know if it mentioned the name.
I'll watch it at home tonight (with sound) and see.
The caption of the video I found, says M/S Invalid Carriage, built in Rustington Sussex. Elsewhere I found a longer caption and there Mr. Sydney Jones is said to be sitting in this car...so I assumed him to be the builder.

OK, well the site I got the picture from didn't mention the builder's name in writing but did mention a name "****** Invalid Car".
I'll watch the video tonight and see what it says.
In the meantime I'll keep it locked in case you can find the site I got the picture from and match the name I have.
I have Googled the name for more information but haven't come up with anything, so it may or may not be right...
I watched the video last night, and it does only mention the name of Sidney Jones as the designer.
But he's the invalid driving the car, so it's unlikely he was the actual builder.
I would say he had it built for him by the manufacturer of invalid cars whose name I am looking for.
Still locked for you. It's quite easy to find.
Is it "Invacar"? Elsewhere I found a caption saying "Jardine" invalid car...but I don't know if this actually means something.

Neither do I but it's the name I'm looking for!
It's simply described on the site where I found the picture as "Jardine Invalid Car", but who are Jardine? I can find no other reference to them. There is a Jardine Cycle & Carriage Co (or was it Jardine Carriage & Cycle Co..?!) but they are a relatively new 21st century company.
So I think we've got all the information that is available about this vehicle and it's time to call it solved.
Well done.
.
I can confirm Sydney Jones did indeed design and build this car! I have been told stories about this amazing man throughout my life and have seen many wonderful pictures of him in this car and hard at work also. He is my fathers great uncle. and a very talented engineer. I just wish I had been blessed with the opportunity to meet such a wonderful and talented man in person!

Thanks for that ctwigg - very interesting.
What's the relevance of the "Jardine" name? Or is that a Red Herring?
