1 point for identifying what this is:
-
OK then Experts, tell us...
-
Does it have something to do with Gaylord ?
-
This is Jim Webb's Savage, based on a '48 Chevy chassis with a Pontiac V8. He later sold the moulds to La Dawri who marketed it as the Centurian 21.

Quite so.
And to answer pguillem's question, no it has no connection with the Gaylord, but I would say it must have influenced its appearance!
-
What's this? Year and name of the car for 1 point.
-
Wow!
-
Gaylord gladiator (1955)
-
No.
-
Experts?
-
Anything to do with Bill Flajole?
-
No.
-
How about Raymond Loewy then?
-
No to that too.
-
is it an American custom-built car?
-
Right country, but it depends on what you mean with custom car. The whole body is new from the ground up.
-
is it a one-off with a 1960 ford thunderbird as a base?
-
Not the right base. It is possible that more cars were constructed with the design, but I'm only aware of this one.
-
Chevrolet base?
-
Yes.
-
was it built by bob Caldwell?
-
No.
-
A Brooks Stevens creation?
-
No.
-
Spohn body?
-
That's a 1956 Chrysler 300 windscreen, so Chrysler of that era underneath? :o
-
Yes, the car quite reminds me of the Chrysler Falcon, but then I thought 'surely not'?!
-
Not a Spohn creation. The windshield is a not from a Chrysler car, but belongs to one of the brands of the Chrysler corporation. The windshield is not related to the base (which was a Chevrolet, see earlier reply).

savage ,styled by jim webb?

savage ,styled by jim webb?
I knew I knew the car but I just couldn't put my finger on the name...
But as soon as you mentioned it I knew you were right; here's why:

it was 1958 savage sport/custom car by jim webb?
-
A point to kwgibbs. It's the Savage by Jim Webb. Although I see that the other puzzles have it as a 1956, my sources says it was a 1958, just like kwgibbs identified it as.
And I have to say I'm quite surprised by this being a repost. I tried searching for "jim web" and "savage" when I posted it, without finding anything. Is there something I have misunderstood about the search function on this forum?

I believe the 1956 is incorrect and it is from 1958.
It depends how you searched; if you put in "Jim Webb Savage" you'll get nothing as the heading read "Jim Webb's Savage".. The apostrophe is everything!
Even if you put in "Jim Webb" you'll get nothing so only be putting in just "Savage" would you get a hit. You'll get used to it!
