Thx, PJ, for emphasizing the positive!!!
Yes, let's do it the old fashioned way. ;)
Wild guess: Australian one-off with Jaguar engine
By the size of the number plate I would guess it is British...?
or Swedish on a UK base car?
Thank you all.
This car was not built in Australia, UK or Sweden, it is not based on a Jaguar and not a one-off...but only 2 were made.
From New Zealand?
Not from there...
Israel?
Not from there.
Some clues:
The name I'm after was known in another country for a kind of vehicles...then he moved to another country where 2 of these specials where built starting from different cars.
These specials where not built in any of the mentioned countries.
a kind of terrestrial vehicles? Truck?
Nope...he used to tune and race cars...one in particular...
dragsters?
Not dragsters....the 'one in particular' refers to a specific model of a specific brand.
Front page!
Mini?
Not Mini...
Find this car and you'll have the name!
Were the cars he used to tune and race Italian?
Not Italian....
I owned a late model Triumph GT6 for nearly ten years, and things are ringing bells about this car.
You can't see a lot of detail, but the rear suspension looks like a Triumph swing-axle system, and the steering rack is in the right sort of place. Is this car based on a Triumph chassis - early or late GT6, or one of the associated models (Spitfire, early Vitesse or Herald)?
You have quite an eye! :o
The car is indeed based on a Triumph, not a GT6 but a Spitfire.
The engine was replaced with a different unit...
It's not that hard... ;)
Mercedes-Benz?
Not a MB but a specific model of a specific make...(whe are talking of the car he use to tune, aren't we?)
The way to find out this car is easy...one very known car was tuned by this man...he gave a name to his company...this company has a nice website where you can find this car...plane and simple like that!
OK few steps and it will be solved.
1- Famous car, base for several kits, VERY easy. (not VW or Fiero)
2- A company known for race this car
3- There is only 1 site about this company and there is the answer.
Okay I believe I've found it!
Your confirmation regarding Tom_I's post that it was based on a Triumph Spitfire started me trying a Google search without luck - unless I was suffering from a surfeit of Spitfires.......
I then tried narrowing it down by specific models and eventually came across it on page 17. (thank goodness, perseverance pays occasionally)
It appears to be based on a 1971 Mk 4 Spitfire with a Datsun 'A' engine built by the man who created the Datsun Super Samuri, namely Spike Anderson.
He now lives in Spain and has long had a desire to own/build a 1930s style sports car for enjoying the Spanish sunshine.
He is also building the 75th and last Super Samuri for a friend in Spain after importing a 240Z into the country.
I also noted with interest that he has co-written a book on the Super Samuri - a book that will now be on my shopping list.
As to the puzzle car, it doesn't appear to have a specific name but I guess it could be called Spike Anderson's Samuri Special based on a Triumph Spitfire Mk4 with a Datsun A engine.
All correct!
There's nothing to add, just a picture of the other special:
Well done!
BTW: in another page the car is called "Spitfire Special", while the 2nd car is named "Samuri Z Special"
What's this, by whom, powered by what - for 1 point?:
Remember - solving puzzles using 'Google Search by Image' is BANNED on AutoPuzzles!
Experts?
That's gorgeous.
Don't know why, but Round The Horne immediately came to mind with Kenneth Williams saying, "Oooo! A big, butch omi with bulging lallies!". Camp or not, I want it. ;D ;D
I belief this to be a Triump Spitfire special (saw this quite a while ago on a French Triump enthusiasts forum), but I guess that the six chrome exhaust pipes could indicate that it's fitted with a GT6 engine....?

Sorry - I'm away on holiday without my files.
I should be able to reply to you on Friday.
I have it as something completely different!
I searched some more and found this, car is owned by "Spike Anderson" and it is in Spain. Build on a 1971 Triumph Spitfire MK4 modified with a period body and the engine was substituted by a Datsun "A" series motor and 5 speed gear box. He indicates that: With an all up weight of about 750 KG and over 200BHP on tap, this special is very very rapid!!

You've got the car all right.
I didn't have details of its Triumph background with me so either didn't know or had forgotten that bit!
I have a name for it, which I think he calls if officially but I'm not 100% sure of that.
Locked for you to come up with it anyway and here's another pic to be going on with:
Is it Super Samuri your looking for? Because I belief that is his Z240 new project. If not I will keep on looking.

Almost but not quite!
The puzzle is his project before the Super Samuri but has a similar name...
Still locked!

Samuri Special is the name I was looking for.
Well done.
Merged, as it was a repost.
