It misses some elegance.

For one point, please respond and identify this car and its base.

Am I right in thinking it has a Citroen A-series chassis?

Wendax

Yes, Citroen chassis and 602 cc engine.

ATTENTION!
The editors are thinking about splitting the Professional board into a junior and a senior board, so that professionals with less than 400 points can have their chance, before the sharks and cannibals will have a bite. In order to test this idea, this puzzle is restricted to puzzlers with less than 400 points until further notice.

This car is registered as:

1979 CITROEN PETROL SPORTS (DYANE 6)

Written on the bonnet is "Allard 38".

A recent ebay auction listed it as "1930s Style Full Alloy Bodied Single Seat Race Car"

Wendax

Well done! This would make it probably the first Allard Citroen.  ;D

Any relationship to the real Allards?  ie cars produced by Sydney Allard and his son Alan.

Interesting to note that the fan and fan housing seems to have been removed from the engine. Definitely not a car for heavy traffic then.... ;D
