#15 is the "Pink Panther" built by Kete Horowhenua.

Yep

Ummm....I don't think this is 100 percent accurate.  The car may be "from" Kete Horowhenua, but that's not the name of the builder.  "Kete Horowhenua" is an image repository hosting photos relating to  Horowhenua, Levin, New Zealand.  You can check it out on Google Earth.

The car was is/was a 1930 Model A roadster built by Dave Chung and totaled by a Kiwi named Eddie Fairbarn while racing a Jaguar; the A-bone hit a milk truck and the Jag had its motor's bottom end, transmission and diff torn out by the median strip.

In the photo, which was undoubtedly a happier time, the young lady standing behind it is Susan Denham – Miss Horowhenua, 1968.  This info is from the website of an "En-Zed" magazine.  More is available if desired.

#57
So #11 is Gordon Vann's roadster...

and it's a 1917 Dodge roadster body, and the grille that we've been staring at for so long is from a DESOTO, not a Nash or Lincoln. It ran a Mercury flathead.

He built it in his own shop.

Grilles give me trouble sometimes. Like on Geoff Mohr's '53 Ford, #16, I could have sworn that grille was from a DODGE, '55 or maybe '56. Wasn't, though. It's actually '55 Plymouth, and with the car being nosed/decked/frenched lights, it makes for a really attractive mild custom. I think Geoff did all the work, maybe with help from his club, The Headhunters.
Internet sources say the car has a 312ci.Y-block for power. Must be true.

It looks like #18 has front page status. It is one unusual custom and a real eyecatcher. I hope someone can figure it out. I'm all-out and no closer on it or on the mysterious #1.

Otto Puzzell

Time to send this to the black hole?

I have some new group puzzles queued up, but I really think we need to close these older ones out.

I'm offering twice the regular points for solutions that are posted in this thread before 12:00 AM Monday, Eastern Standard Time.

Well, I thought I'd be away for a while, but I seem to have been sidetracked.  So here I am.

Is the 1956 Ford PU #18 a Japanese kustom?

Otto Puzzell

Nope, it's from the old USA.

I'd like nothing more than to award some points and close out another old puzzle.  ;)

Working on it.  It is a 1975 Chevrolet Monza Spyder, Pro-Street.  It was sold at auction in 2008 and in 2010.  I haven't found the builder yet.

Otto Puzzell

Don't need a builder - that's good enough for the point.

I'll tally up the points and move this to solved in the next 24 hours.
