:bump:

Perhaps one of our newcomers can put a name to that face?

I´ve learned to hate this one...

I regret that anyone would come to hate one of these innocuous puzzles... :(

French winged badges - Salmson / Chenard et Walcker / Voisin - but none of those.
Simca 9 Coupe de Ville in nearly every way - but Facel bodies are out and the top of the windscreen looks too straight and, while the grille does look Vedette / Ariane like, it's smaller, so what's left of the early 50s?  This one has really got to me

It's time to solve this....it's a Renault 4 CV designed by George Pascal.

@re

Hey, when did you take over the role of the Renault expert?  :)
1974 Fiat X1/9 1500
2005 Alfa GT 1,9 JTD

Paul Jaray

I'm not...it's a combination of big luck and much time...

Woo-hoo! We have a winner!  :drink:

I´ve found another view of this car in an old magazine today. I´ve always thought that this was a big limousine, but it was a tiny convertible!

The naked chassis and a finished car, and some no doubt informative text that I can't understand:

The naked chassis and a finished car, and some no doubt informative text that I can't understand:

Here's my translation. Not the best as I'm not fluent in French, but I hope it's ok.

"When the engine is out of Renault 4CV, we notice the surprising similarity of its construction to the one of Citroen 11CV. From this there is only one step to the thought that by putting the Renault 4CV engine in front, you could get the driving qualities of a Citroen. Mr. Pascal from Rouen has made this step.
First he made the chassis, on which he mounted the Renault engine block. The wheels and transmission are taken from Panhard Dyna. The front suspension is transverse springs, the rear is longitudinal springs coupled with small coil springs, which provide the grip for 4 wheels, shock absorbers g.r. [I don't know what 'g. r.' means]
With such an assembly, one can fear the weight of the car. Indeed, weighing over 600 kilos, it is heavier than the original car. The body of the Rouen hybrid and its low ground clearance are surpsrising. When tested, the car ,its engine equipped with many improvements, reached  180 kph.
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

I have found an old 1947 photo of the 4CV Pascal in my collection:

Carnut

What's this, built by whom, when - for 1 point?:

4CV Renault 1952 by Georges Pascal !

Carnut

Quite so.
It's described as a 4CV TA Special, but I don't know what the "TA" stands for.  Do you?

Monsieur Pascal placed the Renault engine in the front of his car and applied a front wheel transmission of a Panhard Dyna. So the TA stands for Traction Avant. It is a repost, by the way.

Carnut

Thanks.
That'll teach me not to Search for 'Georges Pascal'....
I should have taken my own advice and just Searched for 'Pascal'!

I just added the missing -s in the title.
