This one is a bit complicated.

It is a Mercedes off road sports car built in very limited quantities in 1938/1939.

There were two variants, the 230S/SV and the 170S/SV and they looked almost identical from what I have seen.

I will guess that the puzzle car is a 1938/9 230S/SV.

I looked at my source materiel again.
Perhaps a 170VS instead of SV?

Well, a bit more research turned up a 1938 Mercedes 200V  Geländesport roadster.
Can it be this one?

That's the one! About 30 Geländesportwagen of the Type W149 were built. Those with off-road suspension and tyres were called 170SV, the ones with street specification were known as 200V.
