No
Was this race track still active after 1950 ?
No
Is it Wilhelm von Muller?
Yes, it is him at the 1946 Ruhesteinrennen. One more point for you.
I was a bit confused whether it was in a sports car race, or whether he'd removed the wings to race in F2. Then I found this poor-quality image.
Wasn't he sporting a #3 on his car at the 1946 Ruhesteinrennen? Just to clear this up.
The deeper I dig, the more I get confused. At first I found the puzzle picture showing the car with starting number 5 and identified as Wilhelm von Müller. Meanwhile the same picture appears claiming the car to be the BMW 315 Spezial by Toni Neumaier. Furthermore another picture, showing the same car at the same race, but with starting number 3 appeared, also captioned as Neumaier-BMW.
Anybody able to clear this up?
The Neumaier Spezial was a previous puzzle - Wendax 410.
There were more than one Neumaier BMWs.
The poor image that I posted was from a very well-known site, and they don't usually get things wrong.
Is it possible that the two drivers shared this car, and the numbers were changed during the event?
I have a friend who has a Neumaier BMW. Let me ask him!
