Yes - it was built on a Volkswagen chassis.

I only have a name, place and year.

Only I have NO information about who built it.

It is a kind of a mystery to me, too, to be honest.

I believe this to be a Volkswagen race car, around 1950, it was first shown in Münster International car show, called Volkswagen Super.

The car took part at the Stadtparkrennen 1949 in Hamburg (http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/solved-autopuzzles/grobs-group-puzzle-4-cars-at-stadtparkrennen-hamburg-1949/) as car #44 (http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/the-black-hole/enigma-variations-(racing-edition)/msg338790/#msg338790). Its driver (and probably builder) was Karl-Heinz Vagt from Neumünster. I had the rare opportunity to take a picture of the starting list in the original program:

This is an additional point for Wendax as we now know the builder/driver´s name.
