Title: Solved: GTE 597 - 1918 Packard Twin Six engine (ex-Phil Hill)
Post by: gte4289 on March 05, 2024, 09:55:59 PM
Here's something different for a change:

1.  This filthy beast has been taking up space in my garage for years. Identify the make, model, and approximate year of the source vehicle for a point.

2.  Prior to my ownership, the beast occupied space in the home garage of an automotive legend. Identify the prior owner for an additional point.

A Packard Twin-Six engine?
Yes! LOCKED for you to identify the approximate year for one point (and prior owner for an optional additional point).

I guess it's from 1917.

The automotive legend... perhaps Phil Hill?

From 1918, so that's close enough to earn you a point.

And this earns you the second point!  :applause:

Weighing more than 300 kg, it's practically a permanent and immovable fixture.

As a quick follow-up, I recently sold the filthy beast for $1 just to get it out of the garage. Here it is on its way to the new owner, a car collector who owns several old Packards and knew Phil Hill personally.
