No, although the engine size would have allowed it to enter those races.

Was the engine sourced from a British car ?

Yes.
Imp engine ?
Rootes group engine ?
Leyland group engine ?
BMC engine ?
Ford engine ?
Well that leaves Ford as the obvious guess for engine maker. It doesn't look like the highly developed Cosworth MAE so perhaps it's an (U)nmodified (A)nglia (E)engine.
Hey ho!
oko94 got there first!

You're both correct. It is an Anglia engine , but how modified it is I don't know. It has unusual transmission arrangements, however.
1962 Rudeani Single Seater
The Rudeani was built between September 1962 and March 1963 by Jack Heaton-Rudd and David Dean, as essentially a 'big go-cart'. It was originally powered by a 1,000 cc Anglia engine, but was later to receive a 1,500 cc unit. It has a transverse rear-engine which in turn, with chains, drives a Norton gearbox.
That transmission hint made it quite easy !

I shouldn't have given a clue! Well solved. It raced mainly in the British national Monoposto Formula. I have no idea why the builders chose such an unusual engine and transmission arrangement.
