BMC engine ?
Don't know for sure unfortunately, I have another name but can't confirm that the puzzle car has this engine
Assuming the car was being raced in a historic event when the puzzle photo was shot, did this event take place after 2010 ?
I think this might be an earlier Clubmans racer which has been updated. Those front wings don't look like they started out like that. Early cars of this type had cycle wings, and it's only in recent years that they have used all-enveloping bodies.
Is this a Mallock?
Not a Mallock
Centaur ?
Is it an Eigenbau?

Is it one of Jim Yardley's Beagles? It's not the one he built from his MkIII monoposto, but I can't find photos of the Mk IV and MK V so I'm having a real guess.

1961 Britnell 750 Sport
I know it has been widely advertised as 1960/61, but it looks much later, and John Britnell himself states he built and raced a 750 special in the late sixties. I believe the engine is a Reliant
I agree with you, the car looks much later than 1961.
John Britnell was very active in building cars - I doubt he built 6 like the puzzle car, more likely he built 6 different cars over a number of years. I was wrong in thinking it was a clubmans formula car, and I was searching for completely the wrong thing!
It conforms to the 750MC classes. You're right about the Reliant engine which is now almost universal in that club because the old Austin 7 engines are now too fragile to tune to increase power. Still looks way too modern so I reckon it's either a misprint and should be 1971, or it has been rebodied in order to remain competitive.
John Britnell lives within a mile of me and I still see him occasionally. His health doesn't permit him to build racing cars any more, but I'm sure I can ask him anything you need to know about those he did build!
Yes, it's a Britnell 750 sport. My source claims it to be from 1961, but I agree that it looks from a later date. If Allan speaks to John Britnell some day, we could have it verified. Thank you for all your input !
The point goes to oko94, well done sir.
Thanks for my 723rd point !
