I'm astonished this has never been a previous puzzle. What is it?
An intriguing puzzle, but not one I am likely to get an answer to. The rear wings/fenders suggest a Zagato-bodied Alfa or a Riley Imp/MPH/Sprite but none of those have scuttle cowls. The central filler cap is an odd feature. Perhaps it is a one-off special. And why is part of the bonnet/hood redacted? Does it hide a bulge for a v8 engine? A couple of Autovias were given two-seater bodies.

None of the suggestions are correct. It was a one-off however, but not a special.
Experts?
Looks just the sort of thing Adrian Squire would have liked, but I don't think it is a Squire.

Not a Squire, although it aped the popular look of the time. It's actually quite easy, if you know the answer!

I concur. Oddly enough, others didn't.

Oohh what to do? Zerk was close but would I have given him a lock? Probably not, so this is the winning answer.
It is indeed the prototype SS90 from 1935 reg ARW935. The very attractive tail view was replaced for production purposes by the traditional British slab tank and upright spare wheel.
I'm still surprised it took so long.

I considered this before answering. I didn't want to step on Zerk if he was close, but then it seemed the SS 100 element was probably too obvious for a lock. Regardless, thanks for the puzzle and the point!
Cheers and congrats! I was only fishing, had no idea there was an SS90, and now I'm pleased to know of it.

Thanks, Zerk. It's important that we retain a friendly and harmonious atmosphere on Autopuzzles. I'm sure we've all stumbled upon other websites where this is not always the case.
It's only a game.........
