For one point, please respond and identify this vehicle, especially its purpose.

The base vehicle seems to be a DKW Schnellaster, late 40s to early 60s. (1957 P2 Taunus 17M ahead of it, so perhaps mid 50s?). Was it a transporter for sheets of glass?
