This Mustang is powered by a 390 V8, but it is not a normal engine.

Is it not a 1968 Shelby GT500 KR .... but didn't they have the 427 engine?

sixtee5cuda

This car began life with a 289 V8.  The special 390 was added, along with the Shelby visual bits, at a later date.

No progress from the Experts.  Time for the Professionals to finish this one off.

Does the engine run on gasoline ?

Wendax

It runs on hydrogen, converted by Lindle Willey. It even was converted to joystick control.

And the point goes to Wendax.  Racing briskly towards 2000 points!

A Hemmings article describes the engine as being a 390.  I took a picture of the plaque on the front of the car when I visited LeMay Marymount last month, and it indicates the engine is a 302.  It certainly looks like a small block in the attached image.
