It is obviously a copy/tribute on the AC Ace, Ferrari Barchetta, Tojeiro-Bristol, Cooper-MG theme.
Is it built on a Triumph Spitfire base?

You're on the right lines and not miles off, but it's not based on a Spitfire.

Obviously an ac ace replica. I would give it a try, maybe Cal bodykit?

I'd say AC Ace inspired, rather than an accurate replica, and not a Cal bodykit I'm afraid.

It's beautiful!  8) 8) It looks quite small, so maybe Sprite/Midget based?

Agreed, it is rather nice, but not Spridget based I'm afraid.

Is it based on a sports car?  ie As opposed to a saloon (sedan).

Yes, based on a well-known sports car.

There's plenty left; Sunbeam Alpine, Reliant Sabre, TVR, and so on, but these aren't relevant as this car is indeed based on a Triumph TR, although I won't reveal which precise model as yet as the name of the car is the trickier part of this puzzle to find  ;)

It's called Freccia and built by a guy whose name I am going to retrieve soon.

Very good to hear from you PJ, and yes, this is indeed the Freccia. For the point I don't need to know who built it (I don't know myself, although it will be interesting to know who created it), but to complete the Puzzle, do you know which Triumph TR model the Freccia is based on? Now Locked to you, naturally.

Thank you ;)
I never left but it's always nice to play again!

This car is Meyrick Chapman's brainchild. It was built by Jerry Humphreys & Mark Pattinson's Enginuity, a shop specialised in Triumph in London. The base car was a Triumph Tr6.

Perfect PJ, and it's always good to know you that are never too far away from Auto Puzzles. The base is a TR6, and you've given me some useful extra information about the car that I didn't know before, so another much deserved point to you. Well done.

What a wonderful thing to happen to a TR6 chassis! 8)
