It was not for mail delivery, but its use was not a million miles from that.

Regarding its use, you're getting farther away now. At least one source out there does give the date of this vehicle as 1908, but another, better known and generally reliable source says it's from later.

I just found some more information,that says it was a 1912 Commercial Truck Company Model A 10 Standard,it is a 5 ton ,four wheel drive.The 105 year old battery-powered electric truck is driven by four 85-volt,100-amp GE electric motors at each wheel producing 16 horsepower for each wheel.

That's right, you found it! This truck and others like it were used for over 50 years (!) by the Curtis Publishing Company of Philadelphia, hauling paper rolls to the printig plant and delivering newspapers and magazines to newsstands  and post offices.
