Opel 1,2 Liter?
That's what I believe it is, so locked for you to identify how this camper was used.

No. I'll give you two more attempts before the unlock.

Yes, something like that. Not a commercial purpose as far as I know.

A journey in combination with some kind of record (all European countries or round the Mediterranean Sea or whatever)?

I don't know if any records were set, but you're almost there.

An around-the-world tour?

An around-the-world tour?
That's close enough. The point is yours!

The photo came from a short 1939 article about the world traveling exploits of this little camper. At the time of the article, the camper had already traveled "all of Europe, the Balkans, Asia Minor, Egypt, Tripolitania, Tunsia, Algeria and a large part of Morocco," racking up more than 100,000 km along the way.

I'm away from my computer for the night, but I will post the unaltered image and article in the morning.

Here it is. The camper is referred to as an' Opel 6 cv' (three times). Opel had stopped using tax horsepower designations by this time, but I found several other French sources from the period which refer to the Opel 1.2-liter as the '6 cv."

Is that a 1933-35 German flag on the tail (black/white/red)?

I think it might be the Dutch flag, because the writing on the camper's side says Holland and South Africa. Those might have been the starting point and the goal of the journey.

I had considered that as well.
