Volkswagen Bratislava (aka BAZ/Volkswagen Slovakia/etc.)

QuoteFunded by the ruling Communist Party to expand car production across Czechoslovakia, [Volkswagen Bratislava] agreed to a partnership in 1969 with Italian automaker Alfa Romeo, but the proposed new model was never developed beyond the clay-mock-up.

By the way, does this drawing show the front 3/4 view of the same design?

Properly. You deserve the point fully. Can you tell me the source where you found the information? Thank you. I also found the designation BAZ-Alfa Romeo R 1.

Small, yellow design image: Image of BAZ Škoda 743 Locusta taken at Múzeum dopravy Bratislava (I spotted the drawing hanging in the background.)

Quote regarding Volkswagen Bratislava: "Volkswagen Bratislava Plant." Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia. Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. 23 September 2019. Web.

Large drawings and Alfa Romeo data sheet: Schuster, Ivan. "Storočnica Automobilky Alfa Romeo Pripomenula." Mot'or Nová Technika, Sept. 2010, pp. 14–15 (see below)

Additional information (last image below): Jesenský, Branislav. "Industrial Tradition and It's Role in the Process of Economic Convergence: The Case of the Czech and Slovak Republics." Central European University, 2014.

By the way, BAZ wasn't founded until 1971, after this project had already been abandoned. For this reason, I don't believe the concept should be identified as "BAZ-Alfa Romeo." Volkswagen Bratislava was Alfa Romeo's partner on this project.

"After the fall of the Iron Curtain, in May 1991 Volkswagen Group bought an 80% share of BAZ. "

Prior to that BAZ and VW were unrelated so VW wasn't involved in the Alfa Romeo project.

You're correct, of course. "BAZ" is probably good enough when it comes to labeling the puzzle, but what was the actual name of the entity working with Alfa Romeo in 1969?

I would say VMV according to Ivan Schuster's article.
