... and my puzzle car was a coupe while Pal's was a convertible.

I think it's not the same car, I have the coupe as a Alti Armaretta Coupe Cord by Lerini Coach

And your picture shows a convertible (if it is not a coupe dressed as a convertible).

I looked hard at Pal's original picture and Wendax's and decided that Pal's was not actually a convertible, but just looked like one.  The top looked exactly the same on both pictures to me on close inpection.

However, if they really are different cars than I can 'unmerge' them again.  Should I do that?

Yes, you're right, seems convertible. The most notorious difference is the back side windows
