Who can identify this car?  ie chassis and engine

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

D-type

No takers?

This particular car features the engine from one well-known manufacturer installed in a chassis etc from one small-scale manufacturer in the workshops of a another small-scale manufacturer.

[Edited to include additional details.]

I believe this is the HWM/Alta-Jaguar that Phil Scragg constructed using the first Alta grand prix chassis, "GP101."  Frank Brown imported the car to Uganda in 1959 (where it acquired registration "KHJ 144") and then to Kenya. It was later owned and raced by Peter Shepherd, Peter Sargeantson and Beau Younghusband before returning to the UK.

Spot on.  It was built by HW Motors on Alta chassis GP101.  It would have acquired the KHJ 144 registration when it moved from Uganda to Kenya as all the Uganda numbers began with U, eg UHJ 144 would have been a Uganda number.

Can a moderator please award a point as I don't seem able to do so.
