It was a proposal for the Lancia Delta, made by Piero Castagnero, Lancia design chief.

I only found one source, not sure if it is correct.

That's correct, yes!
I believe it is right; the original picture is below, which you can see includes the Lancia badge and a Turin registration plate.
What I couldn't ascertain was whether it's by ItalDesign (designer of the production Delta of course) or if it's an in-house design.
Maybe someone knows?

I wonder (but don't know) if Pininfarina might have been responsible for this Delta styling proposal, as the car has a definite 'Lancia family look' resemblance to the berlina versions of the Beta and Gamma, both of which were designed by Pininfarina. The large headlamps also have a distinct PF look. Just a thought...

Apparently it was a in-house design by Piero Castagnero for the Y5 project. But Lancia choose to go forward with the Giugiaro proposal instead.

We've had other Lancia Delta prototypes but I couldn't find this one.
