That's exactly what it is. Sorry if my quesion sounded condescending, but puzzles are so rarely attempted by Rookies and I like giving encouragement.

It was of couse entered for Le Mans that year, along with a larger-engined car which wasn't ready on time. This one had a 1300cc engine and went like the wind, but didn't make it to the start.

Your first point - well solved.
