Can anyone explain what is going on around the rear springs?
It looks as if it has reversed three-quarter elliptic springs but normal FIAT Zero back end looks like:

Sorry - you write such excellent English that we forget that you are working in a second language - and that you may not be interested in or understand technicalities.
Rather rude of me, but someone may not only understand, but know the answer. ???

I don't, but I'd like to draw your attention to the..."rumble seat". Not only does it seem unfit for persons over five years old, but I personally would never dare sit a five year old in THAT, less I loose him on the road at the first gush of wind!

Please identify this vehicle (year, make, model & coachbuilder) for a point.

Another point for you!

Since posting this, I found a reversed image of this car on another website, where it is captioned as a 1912 Fiat 12/15 HP Zero (with the Garavini "Sottomarino" body). The reversed image and "Fiat Zero" caption also appear on websites which mirror the first source. I then discovered that the reversed image appeared as an AP puzzle back in 2008 (https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2009-37/whaddyacallit-216-solved!-fiat-tipo-zero-12-15-hp-sottomarino-diatto-garavinills/), identified at that time as a Fiat Zero.

My source for the image was a well-known book on Italian carrozzeria containing an 8-page chapter devoted to Garavini, in which the left-facing image is identified as a "1911 STAR tipo Rapid 16/20 HP with coupe body in the style of a submarine ("sottomarino"). This left-facing image with STAR Rapid identification also appears on another website, which is dedicated to the identification and discussion of coachbuilders.

The STAR and Fiat chassis share origins and are nearly identical. Garavini placed very similar coachwork on both. By appearance alone, this could be a short wheelbase version of either chassis.

I am going to go with my original, printed source and label this one as a STAR Rapid 16/20 HP. However, I will also notify the moderators in case they would prefer to merge this with the 2008 "Fiat" thread.

I think PJ is probably the moderator to decide!
It's definitely the same car so it should be merged; just need to know the correct title..

OK, I've merged the puzzles since it's the same car.
Whichever name you search for should bring the puzzle up.
