A typical circuit racer, isn't it?
For one point: Manufactorer, type and driver. Also which race and when. What success did the driver had here and how did it come about?
I already have a member of ours in mind that should be able to solve the puzzle...

Ford Taunus P7 is the easy part. The rest however... I have no idea ))

sichel

Yes it is a Ford P7, but P7 was no longer called Taunus.

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

sichel

@BattlePorQ: The beginning was just to warm up. Yes, the event took place in 1970.
@D-type: No, neither South... nor somewhere in Africa.

Ford 20M RS, GP Budapest 1970, Manfred Jantke
The 20M RS wasn't a really competitive Division III-entry in the European Touring Car Championship 1970. But Jantke stepped in as a class filler to ensure the minimum number of 10 required starters in Division III to guarantee full championship points at the Budapest-race.
Furthermore, due to a timekeeping-error, Jantke was third fastest with the 20M RS in practice, behind Marko (Alpina-BMW 1600 ti) and Huber (Alpina-BMW 2800 CS), ahead of the works-Capri(!) of Dieter Glemser, who should take care for Ford's championship points. Toine Hezemans won the race with the works-Alfa GTAm. Glemser came second with the Capri. Manfred Mohr, driving the second works-Capri, didn't finish with engine troubles.

sichel

Yes, this is the right answer and it describes this very special event in great detail. That deserves a point.
Btw.: Manfred Jantke was editor (or later deputy editor-in-chief) at the German car magazine "auto, motor und sport". He could also drive well and fast and was for many years the model for the drift photos for cover pictures. In the course of testing a BMW racing touring car at Hockenheim, he drove faster lap times than Dieter Quester...
Following his career as a journalist, he was racing service manager at Porsche from 1972 to 1982.
