I thought blackout headlight covers is the device.
Anyhow, is Tarnkreis or Tarnscheinwerfer the name you're looking for?

You found the purpose of the device. All I need now is its name. To help you a bit, it is a three-letter two-digit name, the letters being an abbreviation for a German word for the purpose (not Tarn... anything). Still locked.

Is it NMA-74?

Yes, it is the Nachtmarschanlage NMA-74, meaning night march device.

Below two Trabant P 601 A, the one in front with a Notek-like camouflage light. The one behind is the car with the NMA-74.
