My source was a book (originally published in the UK), which I found reproduced in its entirety online. However, the brand is mentioned in multiple online sources and has even been featured in a previous AP puzzle.

Yes, manufactured by Heatly & Gresham! LOCKED FOR YOU to identify the brand and coachbuilder.
well, then it is probably another Rational.

It is. Now, just need the name of the coachbuilder from Royston.

it's not like I don't want to solve this but when I look at 1903 and 1904 issues of The Autocar, Car Illustrated and The Auto-motor Journal there are exactly zero hits for the words Royston coachbuilder. On the net I found reference to a William Wilson & Son as being a Royston coachbuilder. Is that the company you are looking for?

That's the answer. Another point for you!
This is a 1901 Rational, built by Heatly & Gresham in Bassingbourne, and bodied by Wilsons in Royston.
:applause:
fascinating booklet, thank for pointing towards it
The Auto Motor Journal devoted a series of five articles to the Rational in 1904.
Heatly, Gresham Engineering Co. moved from Bassingbourn to a purpose-built factory in Letchworth Garden City (where I live!) in 1905, which was remarkable as Letchworth, the First Garden City, was only founded in 1903.
Both Heatly and Gresham were actively involved with First Garden City Limited (who owned the town) and the Parish Council - not to mention the local motor sport club!
