I am not at home for a few days, so I don't have my reference. I don't think your place names are correct however although it WAS a race between 2 cities.
I can confirm that the race started in Los Angeles.

Macomber Rotary driven by PE Leach with Roy Scazighini (Mechanic) 1913 Los Angeles-San Francisco, California, USA
We have a winner! Oddly enough, my information also stated the race ended in Sacremento, but that's not what is needed here. The car is correctly identified.
This was a 5-cylinder rotary-engined car which was intended for production but the prototype remained the only one built. My source reckons the car failed to reach the finish.
Thank you!
