No Gockerell
German at all?
Unfortunately not

My first thought would be a French car at Brooklands in the 1920s.
Perhaps a Ballot?

French car: yes
Brooklands: no
1920s: yes
Ballot: no
Looks like the road circuit part of Montlhery to me.
Not there
Is the car a Darracq?
No
La Licorne?
No
Perhaps it is a Peugeot then?
It's a Spag, from 1926. The picture is of an example built for a team called Bol D'Or. My German is as good as my Spanish (which is to say, not good), but I believe the event to be "Osnibichine". Engine is a 1100 cc Ruby DS engine.
I agree that your German is not good. ;D
But it is good enough to get this point, as this car is a 1926 SPAG.
Bol d'Or was the event (i.e. Golden Bowl in French), d'Osnibichine was the driver. You're right about the engine.
I thought this was a joke when I saw the title.
If you do a Google image search on "SPAG Bol d'Or", you get pages of this sort of thing! ;D
SPAGhetti BOLognese, great! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Note: this puzzle was solved using Google's "Search by Image" feature:
http://www.google.com/insidesearch/searchbyimage.html
I believe I have scored 30-40 points using this tool. I know other AutoPuzzles members have been using this search tool, as well. As solving puzzles in this manner is not in the spirit of AutoPuzzles, I have deleted 100 points from my total, and have banned myself from answering any other puzzles for a period of one month.
I will let the other AutoPuzzles members who have used this tool wrestle with their own consciences.
Otto, we should start a thread, but let me just say, I understand your point, but I don't think you'd do that. Please give back your points and don't feel guilty about it.
There are other Search Image websites out there. If we, who post the puzzles are sloppy and leave this door open, then be it.
I never used Google Image search to solve puzzles though.
A very good quality photo of this car:
This very puzzle was the game changer.. :'(
Over 7 years - wow...
If you can recall the make, the year will be easy. One point offered for that information;).
British?
FrontMan has not logged in for nearly nine months, but I believe this is the exact same car (not just the make) that was featured in this previous thread (https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2011-39/solved-wendax-236-spag-bol-d'or). I don't want a point for this. However, I would like to see this puzzle resolved and the two threads merged.
Agreed and merged
