In the middle of the town.
For one point, please respond and identify this vehicle, its purpose(s) and its coachbuilder.

Granit 27?
Granit yes, 27 no.
Maybe 25 is enough...
Yes, just add the manufacturer for the easy part.
You are very demanding today ;) Phänomen-Werke Gustav Hiller AG, Zittau i.S. Btw.: The type designation refers to the cubic capacity (in decilitres, rounded)
Right, now for the coachbuilder and the purpose.
This may take some time...

Westfalia??
Yes, now we have two thirds of the solution. Locked for you to find the vehicle's purpose.
Is that a loudspeaker on the cab?
Yes, I think so.
Hmm?? Loudspeakers, folding stairs, increased headroom in the centre aisle, windows. Advertising with the loudspeaker, sale in the vehicle. Tickets for the circus or similar...
Advertising with the loudspeaker: Yes
Sale in the vehicle: maybe, but not the main reason for the coachwork
Tickets for the circus or similar: Not at all
Post-war period, houses still being rebuilt, lack of premises for offices and shops: Rolling advice centre for insurance, building society savings contracts and the like?
Good idea, but no.
The second purpose besides marketing was a practical one, with some respect to the circumstances of its time.
Bank branch on wheels.
Consumer products demonstration, such as sewing machines?

Consumer products demonstration, such as sewing machines?
The puzzle is still locked for sichel, but I will grant one point to sichel for naming truck and coachbuilder, unlock the puzzle and offer a second point for answering these questions:
- What is the vehicle's purpose besides promoting?
- Whom was it built for?
- What makes it special then?
The vehicle was used for promotional demonstrations of goods which might be consumer goods as well as being used professionally. But those products were not shown inside the vehicle.
Advertising for Westfalia trailer-couplings and trailers.
How a little bit of competition unearthes solutions! ;D
It was indeed built by Westfalia for themselves as part of a promotion train for their trailers and couplings.
Locked for you again to add the second purpose and what makes it therefore special.
Functional models of the clutches are established. Demonstration of the function for potential customers, training in assembly and repair for workshop personnel.
No, you think too complicated.
Was there catering for the customers? Sausages! Coffee!!! Something special in those days.
No, but getting closer.
Seek and ye shall find. For example, a model of the Westfalia advertising train, albeit with a Ford FK 3500 (unfortunately it's already too late for the Christmas wish list).
Unlike the Phänomenon, it has no windows. So the loudspeaker was probably only there to attract and inform customers. The Phänomen had a small seating area in the rear. For customer meetings and/or for employees to stay. The rest of the superstructure was used to transport the material, possibly also partly for exhibition purposes.

Now you are almost there. It is all correct, just one additional function of that area is missing.
Great model, by the way.
Microphone and other technology for operating the loudspeaker system.
No, remember the company.
Samples of facilities for caravans and motorhomes.
Still hopping around the solution with just a little achievement.

Lowerable table?
I don't know, but it would be possible in order to provide what?
A sleeping area?
We are making progress! So looking at Westfalia's later portfolio, what can this vehicle be called?
A display model of the Camping Box at the rear.
Okay, let's put an end to this. All facts are laid out. The truck was a 1938 Phänomen Granit 25 which received its bodywork by Westfalia in 1948. One of the reasons was the scarce availability of hotel rooms back then. So this one can be called Westfalia's first campervan which would mark the 75th anniversary of Westfalia campervans this year.
a second hard-earned point for you.
Many Thanks for this point. Sometimes the penny dropped by the penny.
