Hanns Peter Rosellen, Deutsche Kleinwagen nach 1945 — geliebt, gelobt und unvergessen. (~ German small/micro cars, since 1945, loved, praised and unforgotten)
Publisher: Bleicher Verlag 1977 / Weltbild Verlag 1991, 364 pp. (hardcover, 20 cm x 22 cm) ISBN: 3-89350-040-5, price: ~ €  6 (!) – € 30,- (more in mint condition)

As I had a huge knowledge gap on microcars I decided to get me some books to improve myself.
Before I wasn't in favour with microcars, but that changed at least concerning those built from 1945-1970.

This book is known as the "bible" for the German microcar scene as it provides an almost complete overview of the cars from that period. H.P. Rosellen describes every single car with extraordinary diligence. Beside all of the technical stuff he tells stories about builder's biography, their dreams and their failures.

The period pics (only b/w) are constantly of adequate quality. Many of these are hardly to find anywhere else. For instance the Pinguin/Passat project is very well documented with ten pages.
Many prototypes of various manufacturers are shown.


I recommend to buy this book to 100% but there's a neglectable drawback: I hoped to find the obscure "Recklinghausen", but unfortunately it's not content of this book...

I'll post all my best books, because that's what I had in mind, a useful encyclopedia for the car lovers.
I have a huge book about american cars that is a goldmine for puzzles, but I'll post it as well because, if you spot a car (like I did for 2 quizzes yesterday) in a 1612-page book, well, you'll deserve the point.
About these books, I'm always looking for good ones, and I'm not taking yours because of the puzzles (or the points).
Consider that I found few days ago 2 or 3 cars that have been for months in the pro section in a good book of mine, but they were spotted by others.
There are at least 3\4 puzzles of mine taken from books that I KNOW are in some member's library, but they didn't realize it yet.
I'm not afraid to reveal my sources, because 1 thing is to have a book, the other is to know all the content of it.  ;)

Yes, but a newer edition.
(BTW I found it at a really lower price than that)
I took also the following volumes, 1946-1975  and 1976-1999, and the first one has the signature of the author inside. When I get that book I saw the signature and I though, 'what a megalomaniac, He sold a book and sign it' and when I closed it I read the name on the cover!

I wonder how many of us besides Allemano and I understand why the *'s are in the subject line and what they stand for?

Before everyone jumps up and says "I know why they are there" go back and edit your book reviews so that they have them also!!!!  ;)
