Something to think about.

A five star rating system with the stars in the title of the thread.

*         Poorly done book
**       Generally poor with some redeeming qualities
***      Average
****    A Good Book
*****  The Best

Would make searching for the good books lots easier.

Well, let's impose some criteria then? For example, 'Avtomobili Rossijskoi Imperii' by S.Kiriletz which I have posted seems to be the most valuable source on pre-1917 Russian cars ever, but it is printed on a bad paper and it also has some grammar mistakes  ::) . For its information I would mark it with the highest 5-star rate (I would give it 6 if it was possible), but in complex it may lose one star, although those trackbacks are more of aesthetics than anything else.

Can I ask a different question here? Has anyone seen a book called 'Autodesign in Nederland' by Jan Lammerse? It is said to contain an information about some Dutch racing specials. If someone has any information about it, is it worth looking for (and is it actually expensive)?

Here is a link of the seller: http://www.e-sales.nl/autonet//files/conditions/PaymentConditions.doc (scroll down to the end to see payment conditions in English). And for extra info about shipping costs: their e-mail address is info@autonetcarbooks.com or, if it doesn't work (because they seem to change the provider): http://www.e-sales.nl/autonet ,or you just try the phone: +31765979999 (on Thursday and Friday from 10 AM till 4 PM or Saturday from 10 AM til 5 PM).
I just received the book, and it's really good!
The seller is very comunicative and professional, there should be 5 copies left now.

Actually four, I just ordered mine :)

I'd like to add my voice to how good this book is, even if my Dutch is ungelovlijk. If only there were a book like this for every nation...

Tried to order just now, but there's no shipment to Germany provided .. :'(
I guess I'm not going on a 200km trip to pick up the book at Wernhout's book store

Paul Jaray

I'm sure you'll find a way if you ask directly to them.
In any case I can take it for you and send it over.
(I sent you a PM)

AutoNet Carbooks is an excellent (online) book store! Friendly and quick communication

Nice to see the group working together to solve this issue.

A fellow I know via internet recently brought me 2 of only 3000 bottles of a certain whiskey only available in Canada.  Another fine example of how the community can work together to avoid the stupid rules of borders.

Strange situation with you, Allemano, as it seems they have no problems with shipping to Russia. I have just contacted them and I hope I will purchase the book in a couple days as I register my PayPal account.

Paul Jaray

They ship worldwide, but there were some issues with the old website, where it seems they don't.

They had those problems as they launched their new webpage just yesterday. I guess they updated since and fixed the bugs we still had the day before.

The Autopuzzles effect is clearly visible on their website.  ;D

Well, it seems there are no books left in their stock, as I have just placed my order  :shiner:

I completely agree!
Fortunately this book isn't solely in the hand of one puzzler.< ;D

Christmas is coming closer, so it is time to threat myself again on a package books from Libreria dell'automobile.  :cheer:

I'm already filling up my cart, but there is still some space left.  ;D

They have some books one sale that I do not know.
Is there anybody who knows if the following 2 books are any good (Lot's of rare Italian post war cars):

POLVERE E GLORIA: LA COPPA D'ORO DELLE DOLOMITI 1947/56

TARGA FLORIO. UN'EPOPEA DEL NOVECENTO - Il libro ufficiale del centenario

Also does anybody knows if the book 'DICTIONARY OF WORLD COACHBUILDERS AND CAR STYLISTS' is interesting, once you already have the Beaulieu encyclopedia of the Automobile: coachbuilding (which is IMO a little bit of a disappointment because it is not comprehensive at all)

pnegyesi

Suman is a good friend. His "dictionary" is comprehensive, but in reality it is just an A-Z list with a lot of names, years of activity and country.

My  copy has arrived today from AutoNet. Great read, to be said. I was surprised to see quite many racing cars among them.

jotage21

Two free downloadable books. The first one is about the cars made by FEI. The second one is about a mini jeep made in Brazil in the 50´s.

FEI book is brilliant! Thank you!

Allemano

Unfortunately it's the wrong volume for me as I already have this issue: Europäische Kleinwagen 1945 - 1955
But for those who are looking for this book in particular it's still on a reasonable price level..
