I'd like to start another topic about books.
Here you can ask for which book is, according to the member's opinion, the best one on a certain topic.
I'll start:
Is there a book for specialist cars, kit-cars or replicas built outside UK and USA?

That's a fine idea!
I'm searching for a encyclopedic books of concept cars like Gloor's 'Zukunftsautos'.
But for the 60s, 70s and 90s.

I'm sure you know "American Dream Cars" by Mitchel J. Frumkin and Phil Hall, Krause Publications, ISBN: 0-87349-491-1
http://www.amazon.com/American-Dream-Cars-Concept-Vehicles/dp/0873494911
BW pictures (but there is a 32-page insert full of colored pics), some of them are of a really poor quality, but there are all the american concepts, GM, Ford, Chrysler and Independent. More than 350 pages. Full of info. I'll post a review when I'll done with the catalogues.

Me too.

There is no one book that does everything but I do recommend the four-volume Car Watchers Guide from Car Graphic - one volume on Toyota, one on Nissan/Prince, one on Mitsubishi/Mazda and the last on all the rest. Mostly pictorial but some text too (all Japanese). It's a real anorak guide to every year of every car sold in Japan up to the early 1990s

It's also worth tracking down the book "The Complete History of the Japanese Car 1907 to the Present" (well 1986 at least) by Marco Ruiz, published by Portland House (ISBN 0-517-61777-3)

I have this book and its not the most exhaustive.
The big volume you've suggested seems to be only available in Japanese language ,but is probaby a treasury.

Is the kit-car book suggestion Paul Jaray made this morning yet not an appropriate source?

Something to think about.

A five star rating system with the stars in the title of the thread.

*         Poorly done book
**       Generally poor with some redeeming qualities
***      Average
****    A Good Book
*****  The Best

Would make searching for the good books lots easier.

Can I ask a different question here? Has anyone seen a book called 'Autodesign in Nederland' by Jan Lammerse? It is said to contain an information about some Dutch racing specials. If someone has any information about it, is it worth looking for (and is it actually expensive)?

I have this book. It was on my "list to do"...
The book is full of interesting facts about Dutch cars. Some very old vehicles (the oldest from 1834!), lots of infos about Daf and Volvo production cars, smaller productions as Max, Shelter and many others, and lots of self-built cars of which indeed many were used as racing special. I think it is really a very interesting book, though it is helpful if you read Dutch  ;)
I bought it back in the 90s, when it was new (released in 1993), but I found it for sale on internet for about 25 euro, which seems to me t be a fair price for this gem.

Here is a link of the seller: http://www.e-sales.nl/autonet//files/conditions/PaymentConditions.doc (scroll down to the end to see payment conditions in English). And for extra info about shipping costs: their e-mail address is info@autonetcarbooks.com or, if it doesn't work (because they seem to change the provider): http://www.e-sales.nl/autonet ,or you just try the phone: +31765979999 (on Thursday and Friday from 10 AM till 4 PM or Saturday from 10 AM til 5 PM).
