Written by Chris Rees and edited by Peter Filby, this book claims to be "a comprehensive buyer's guide to every kit car produced between 1953-1985".
 they are all ther, major ones and obscure ones.
there is a picture for each one of them
brief description of each model, alphabetically listed
in the 2nd part there are 119 kit cars "wich are extremely rare or quite rare but utterly insignificant"
 it's a Vol.2 because the author planned a 4-volume opera never completed, started with #2 (!!).
there is a funny description for each car ("verdict: absolute s**t" or "the crappest copy you'll ever see", etc.) that can be upsetting you (I like them.)
Seems to be quite rarely to find..
The very day I looked for it I found it at 17euros, shipping included!
In the same place (amazon) there were other copies (starting from more than 100$).
I was worried, but as you can see the book is in a perfect shape.
Currently there's no copy available – not even for $100,-.
I found a copy for sale at LESS THAN 8 EUROS!
I hope no more than 1 of you will ask me for the link.... :-\
I think I found it. ;D
In fact is gone...

Yes. I expect it in my letterbox in a few days. ;)

Maybe because the authors got death threats by some of the manufacturers. ;D
(Yes finally I got my 'as good as new' copy for a very reasonable price!)
It is indeed a shame that Volumes 1, 3 and 4 were never published, but that was down to the publisher...
Steve Hole's new book "A To Z Of Kitcars" is due out I believe next year, which may fill the gap

Please, let us know when :)
Sadly the publication of Steve Hole's new A-Z of Kit Cars (British only) book has now been delayed until late summer 2011. I have been helping Steve with the book, and I have to say it looks very comprehensive, so will be worth buying once it is out (and no, sadly I am not on commission for each sale!).
I'm looking forward to it even though it has been delayed.
I thought that the Chris Rees/Peter Filby book was very good but we need a "bible" for the kit car industry.
"Satanic Rituals", eh? ;D
Finally I found Filby's books "British Specialist Cars Vol.2 Roadsters, Replicas and Fun Cars", "Specialist Sports Cars, British Small Series Production Cars" and "The Fun Car Explosion" at a reasonable price....they will be all home when I'll be back! I'll post some reviews.
...about Steve Hole's book is it possible to pre-order it.
Steve Hole says he is "just in the process of signing off the proofs for my Haynes book 'A-Z Kit Cars' and the amended publication date is now February 2012"
The Amazon UK website lists it on sale as a pre-order now...
179 pages only — tight for a 'definite encyclopedia'.
Description of the book according to Steve Hole site:"the thing contains 165,000 words, over 500 large scale pages, 2300 separate entries, a location chart showing where manufacturers have been located, town-by-town; county-by-county and also some sales figure information"
