McLaren Senna - Rant
« on: February 07, 2018, 08:54:49 PM »
I know this is a bit late since it’s already been introduced like a month or so ago. But can i just say how HIDEOUS this car is. I have many problems with this car and how I believe its one of the worst McLaren models. Here are my issues...

1) It’s Way Too Gaudy.

McLarens are supposed to be sleek, elegant, sports and supercars. But just by looking at this thing, its like every McLaren ever plus a little dash of LMP1 styling created this mutant. Its huge wing, and its racing attachments... dont you hink its all a bit too much?

2) That Arse...

If the car attatchments were not enough already, look at the rear of it! It looks like someone stretched it out in photoshop and then just chopped off the back! Personally, it looks gross.

3) The Little Windows In The Doors.

Still on the topic... I really dont think those windows in the doors were nesessary. I mean, One day maybe its warm enough to wear shorts outside and i decide to take my Senna out to the track, next thing you know some paparazzi is taking pictures of my hairy legs through my little window. It doesnt really belong on a ‘racecar’

4) ‘Senna’

It doesnt sound right doesnt it. ‘McLaren Senna’ I just cant see that working on this type of car. Should’ve named it the ‘McLaren Tiny Tim Edition’ because of how ugly it is.

5) It’s Not The McLaren We Wanted

I was genuinely hyped to see McLaren came out with a new supercar at first. I was hoping it was the new car McLaren was designing as a hommage to the F1 with its centre steering wheel and everything. Nope... Nope... It’s some out of the blue car with ugly styling and a disproportionate arse.

Do you really think this car is bad or good? Lemme know what you think. Here are some photos for you to cringe at.

It'a always a good thing to have an opinion, Chance. I salute you.

Hypercars are not my "thing". I acknowledge their technological brilliance and undoubted prowess at pure driving pleasure. However I am an impecunious man, and can't be bothered to read any engineering analysis, or road driving test, because I'll never own one or even get a chance to drive one. Is this car any good? I dunno - and quite frankly I don't care.

These cars are rarely bought by motoring enthusiasts. It's much more likely to end up in a collection as a pure investment. Either that, or driven noisily and thoughtlessly round Mayfair in London by an Arab prince. Shame. really. Those who would gain most pleasure from the driving experience will probably never get near one, except maybe someone like Jay Leno.

Personally, I don't like the styling, but then again if it's aimed at track-day drivers it has to be aerodynamically effective. However, would you spend that much money and then drive it at track speeds? This won't be the last we see of this type of car - already someone at another factory is thinking how they can out-do it. It's a kind of rat-race.

I agree.  Personally I don't like any of these modern 'hypercars' and can't be bothered to read anything about them either.  They are an irrelevance to the vast majority of us; having said that I do applaud companies which make these cars as they keep the whole supercar idea alive.  They're just so ugly.  We seem to have lost the ability to design beautiful supercars around the 1980s/90s, with a few notable exceptions (Ferrari 458 Italia for instance).
We don't have many Arab princes in Hull but I do see McLarens around where I live.  I think they belong to Hull City footballers, but if it was anything to do with me I'd make them drive around in Reliant Robins!  They struggle to kick a simple football never mind drive at 200+ mph...

Another voice from the older end of the AP age range says "so what?"
If those strange-looking cars sell well enough to make money that's fine by me but, like the multitude of huge school-run off-road vehicles, I cannot find myself taking any interest in them.

The reason I bring this car up is because, even though it doesn’t matter to you guys, its apparently a huge deal to us 21st Century kids. Just like you guys grew up with cars that came out over the years, all us new generation peoples have no clue what cars are but Lamborghini’s and Ferraris from Rap music videos. But I was actually surprised to hear some guys around my school vicinity actually talking about this car. And in the back of my head I was just saying ‘Gross.’ Thats why I took here to see what you guys thought.

What do you think of this other Hypercar? Corbellati Missile, only 1800HP and 500km/h (they say).

Looks like a 2000GT, 33 Stradale, 330 P4, and a Ferrari 360 all had at it at once. Could be a good idea though.

No visible wings, spoilers, skirts, diffusers, or any such aerodynamic necessities. It'll offer interesting handling at 500kph.

Looks a yawn a mile to me; that's if anyone can get as far as a mile without killing themselves...
